Hardwick Hall on a Sunny Winters Day

The fantastic Hardwick Hall, in Derbyshire, is an architecturally significant Elizabethan country house in England, a leading example of the Elizabethan prodigy house. Built between 1590 and 1597 for the formidable Bess of Hardwick, Hardwick Hall is one of the earliest examples of the English interpretation ofRenaissance style of architecture, which came into fashion having slowly spread from Florence. Its arrival in Britain coincided with the period when it was no longer necessary or legal to fortify a domestic dwelling. Ownership of the house was transferred to the National Trust in 1959. Today, it is fully open to the public.

I often enjoy riding through the grounds of Hardwick Hall. Here is a short video in the lovely winter sunas I saw it from my mountain bike.

Amazing Autumn

I woke this morning with the sun blazing through the blinds. Whilst there are plenty of down sides to losing your job during the corona virus pandemic, there are a couple of upsides. One is when you fancy a bike out you can just get up and go. This was a moment to take advantage.
